The times that were, the times that are, and the times that may be... ...and how to kick butt in all of them! Where can you find fans of Sci-Fi, Fantasy, Steampunk, Dark Fantasy, Cosplay, Comics, The Golden Age of Piracy, and Speculative Fiction? Ok, a lot of places -- BUT, where can you find them armed with swords, maces, clubs, spears, knives, and other weapons of the West? Why, at CombatCon, of course! Imagine a place where fans of all genres can rub elbows with armed and armored martial artists, and try their hand at cracking a whip, throwing a dagger, felling an opponent with a two-handed sword, or defeating the zombie horde with a crowbar and a shovel. Yes folks, that place exists -- and it's called CombatCon: Where History and Fantasy Meet! Not to mention the opportunity to hang with old friends and make some new ones. And where else could all this happen besides Las Vegas, one of the most action-packed vacation destinations in the US?

-
The Western Washington WMA Workshop in Seattle, WA.
Teaching a 9 hr. track entitled "The Martial Art of Stage Combat" with Brad Waller.

Partial review from Kevin Inouye of Fight Designer LLC:
Any actor would be blessed to have Jared [Kirby] helping them delve in to the moments when their character becomes involved with violent action, and any director will benefit from his knowledge not just of martial concepts, but of what makes for strong, interesting choices. Those choices are informed by his studies of martial arts, but also of dramatic and psychological approaches to violence that might have nothing to do with what we think of traditionally as "martial arts".

A weeklong immersion into Italian or Spanish rapier with classes 8 hours a day and lectures held every night.  Maestro Ramon Martinez, Maestro Jeannette Acosta Martinez, Jared Kirby and Antone Blair teach the world's only weeklong camp for serious students of historical rapier fencing.

As always, this camp will serve as an introduction to the art for those with no previous fencing experience, in a safe and friendly learning environment. Anyone wanting a solid foundation for the study and practice of this demanding art should not miss this unique opportunity.

This camp also remains the best opportunity for experienced rapier fencers to hone their skills and improve their understanding of the concepts, techniques, tactics and theory of either the Italian or Spanish systems of 17th century rapier fencing. Any experienced student or instructor of rapier fencing cannot afford to miss this week of intensive training.
