Italian Rapier (Rapier & Dagger) for Screen & Stage
The Rapier was the preferred weapon of the nobility throughout Europe for most of the 16th-17th century. This Long, slender-bladed sword was often carried with a dagger and saw frequent use in the streets as well as on the dueling field. Participants will begin by looking at the elements of rapier that must be carried into staged violence. Time permitting, participants will explore how a character’s understanding of those martial principles allows for great acting choices.
Basic: This introduction will cover the fundamental techniques to give you a solid foundation in Single Rapier.
Advanced: If you have trained Rapier with me in the past then you will work on Rapier & Dagger. After a few exercises to work on the tempo of Rapier & Dagger, you will work on an advanced sequence of choreography.
