Realism in Your Knife Fight Choreography

There are many opinions on the realism of knife fights versus the training that people do to be prepared for one. In a storytelling context, we have to be clear about how the fights are furthering the storyline and revealing character. The innate fear/respect of fighters dealing with a knife attack is a great way to accomplish this.

Participants will learn knife fight choreography (beginners will do a simple fight while more advanced participants will get a complex tact knife fight). After learning the choreography we will continue to work through it to add realism. This will be done through a few sparring training scenarios to learn what it’s like in a knife fight. These will include:

-Rubber training fight
-Marker fights (Bring a white t-shirt that can get marked up)

We will focus on knife vs knife but if time allows we will explore knife vs unarmed. No one will have to be part of any section of training that they don’t feel comfortable with. In fact, just watching the reality of others will change your expectations of what a knife fight should look like.
