This Film Fighting course provides practical experience working in front of the camera for Action Films/TV. Film sets can be both exciting and intimidating because you are expected to deliver quickly in a high pressure environment. Stunt professionals must be proficient in every aspect of physical action and know how to “sell it” for the camera.

This session will focus on unarmed fighting and will culminate in shooting a short film fight on location that can be used for your reel.

Topics that will be covered include:

    • Camera awareness
    • Angles to shoot from
    • “Set-iquette”
    • Unarmed combat: punches, kicks, falls, chokes, restraints and basic stunts
    • Performing under pressure
    • Hitting marks
    • Keeping yourself safe

Classes will be Wednesday nights from 6-7pm on the following nights:

Shooting will happen sometime the weekend of 8/29-8/30 so mark it in your calendars.

Class will be in Studio #3 at the Gelsey Kirkland Academy in DUMBO (29 Jay St. Brooklyn NY 11201). Using the subway, the “F” train is the closest line. From Manhattan take the F train towards Coney Island – Stillwell Av to the York Street Station. It is approximately a 3 minute walk on Jay Street to GKA. Driving directions can be found here.

The building does not have a sign yet. But it is a big red brick one-story building with a painted sign that says Queen Ann’s Warehouse.
